The Ultimate Wedding Beauty Regimen

Want to look and feel your best on your wedding day?

Our ultimate beauty regimen will provide details of everything you need to do, with timelines for easy planning!

As a bridal makeup artist, Georgia Ella Beauty has plenty of experience working with brides and making recommendations for them to feel their best prior to the wedding day. Now it's time to share this knowledge on a wider basis...

6 Months Out

Contact a local, reputable skin specialist to create a skincare plan 6 months

ahead of your wedding.

Seeing changes in your skin takes time, so you won't want to leave it too late to do this.. in fact the earlier the better. So, if you want to get in touch with someone even 8 months prior go for it!

A skin specialist will help you to achieve:

-smoother skin

-reduced scarring

reduced pigmentation

-prevent or reduce acne acne

-reduced redness

-brightened and rehydrated skin

-reduced appearance of pores and wrinkles etc

Georgia Ella Beauty offers their brides an exclusive discount on treatment plans with a professional skincare specialist!

"Makeup can only look as good as the skin underneath it"

Our recommendation for skin services, that prove popular with our brides, are:

microneedling:

Helps to improve the appearance and texture of your skin.. minimising scars, wrinkles, and other concerns. Also known to support skin tightening and refining pores.

Consult with a trained professional prior to service and thereafter.

peels:

Depending on the strength, chemical peels can remove acne-causing bacteria from the skin, treat wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone. You might need to repeat the procedure to achieve or

maintain the desired result.

Consult with a trained professional prior to service and thereafter.

dermaplaning:

This is perfect closer to your wedding, to create a smooth and flawless base for your makeup to sit on.

Discuss adding this to your skin plan at the time of first enquiring.

Consult with a trained professional prior to service and thereafter.

Whether you contact a skin specialist or not, we recommend reviewing your skin care routine 6 months ahead of your wedding.

Although we don't recommend it, if you aren't planning to consult a professional regarding your skin care routine, you should research your skin concerns before making any changes.

Implementing the right products is going to strongly benefit your skin before your wedding, however using the wrong products may cause an adverse reaction. Before changing anything without advice, you should read Caroline Hirons' 'Skincare Guide'.

3 Months Out

At this stage, we ask our brides to get in touch to arrange a makeup trial with us.

If you're still deciding whether you want a makeup trial, this is why as a makeup artist, I strongly recommend it:

-You'll know exactly what to expect: You'll have ironed out anything you don't like about the makeup. As a makeup artist I have seen it time and time again, that a bride has a makeup inspo picture to go off, and ends up hating it on themselves. On top of that, you'll want to see how the makeup feels and lasts throughout the day, as this allows us to make any corrections on the wedding day if it's anything other than perfect for you.

-Someone other than yourself is now learning your face: Again it's not something many brides think about, because why would you? But, someone new is applying makeup to your face, learning what you do and dont like. A trial gives you plenty of time to discuss your requirements, that may not be available on your wedding morning without running behind.

-Even the slightest thing can throw off a look: It can be hard to identify in the mirror, but you know something doesn't feel quite right. Sometimes a minuscule amount of makeup can throw off an entire makeup look for you. It maybe the undertone of a lipstick, a tone of eyeshadow is 1 shade too dark for your liking, your brows feel too heavy. On your wedding day you want to feel like yourself, and something as tiny as lipstick undertone can leave you feeling disatisfied. Corrections like this can take time for you and your artist to identify.. time that we dont have on your wedding morning. So it's best to book a trial where there is plenty of time scheduled for this reason.

-Get to know your MUA: it may seem silly, and a small issue to have in comparison, but meeting your MUA for the first time on your wedding day can be awkward and uncomfortable, and this is a time you want to feel as relaxed as possible

On that note, save some makeup inspiration photos for your makeup artist

Makeup artists are visual people, and how you want to look on your wedding day is often best communicated with photos. If only describing your requirements, or the picture of how you want to look in your head, it can often be lost in translation between yourself and the makeup artist.

A good example of this is 'natural makeup'. Natural is interpreted on many different scales.

Some brides mean a stripped back, very minimal makeup look. Where others want a full coverage base without a dark smokey eye. We posted a great blog on this very topic here, if you would like to read more.

Botox & Filler

If you're planning on having any botox or filler for your wedding, don't leave it too late as you'll want any swelling and bruising to settle. We recommend consulting a professional about the best time to schedule your appointments, however definitely do this 3 or more months ahead of your wedding.

2 Weeks Out

It's time for your beauty treatments!

Whether it's something you usually do or not, it's wedding time and you'll want to look the best you ever have. Getting your beauty treatments booked for just before the wedding will help you do this!

We want to add a disclaimer, that you'll want to start your beauty treatments around 2 weeks out. However, we recommend trialling a beautician for the service you booked at least once before this period, instead of booking them for the first time right before your wedding.

  1. Getting your brows groomed, whether that is booking;

-wax and tint

-brow lamination

-permanent makeup

(peruse the differences here)

2. Get a spray tan;

Even if it's to even your skin tone, a spray tan will done wonders for your wedding day

3. Hair cut & colour;

Refresh your hair with your usual appointment just in time for the big day

4. Last minute skin treatments

You'll probably be finishing up your skin treatments, we wouldn't recommend any the week of!

5. Eyelashes

Book your eyelash extension or lash lift treatment if you want to, discuss with your makeup artist first as they

may have different recommendations for you.

Our last piece of advice is do nothing to your skin (other than hydrating products), brows or lashes 48 hours prior to your wedding. No strong exfoliants, no brow wax, and no lash infills in case something goes wrong.

And that's it!

Get lots of beauty sleep and try to relax as much as possible the week of the wedding.
